This class project had us re-imagine a pre existing design system. I chose to study The Broad museum because I felt like their identity isn’t too memorable and disconnected from its environment.
I took a field day to go to the site and study the museum and its environment. If I was going to re-imagine this museum, I need to understand where it lives. Whit that mentality a fitting rename would be The Grand Art Museum.
I took shapes and patterns from the architecture and incorporated them into the visual identity. The color was inspired by the brightness and warmth of Los Angeles.
Ultimately, I ended up with this unique visual identity. It considers how the museum would communicate and even incorporates part of their gallery in its promotional posters.
